Preheat your grill to medium heat.
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
Brush the chicken with olive oil and place it on the grill, skin side down.
Cook for about 15 minutes, then flip the chicken.
Baste the chicken with barbecue sauce and continue grilling for another 20-25 minutes.
Check the internal temperature (165°F or 75°C) with a meat thermometer.
Remove from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes.
Serve with additional barbecue sauce on the side.
