Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water about 110°F
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil optional

Instructions

  • Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough to release air, then shape it into a loaf.
  • Place the shaped dough in a greased loaf pan and cover it again. Let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
