Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Add the egg noodles to the boiling water.
Cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente.
Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain the noodles.
Return the drained noodles to the pot.
Add the butter to the warm noodles.
Toss the noodles gently to coat with the butter.
If desired, add reserved pasta water for a creamier texture.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Garnish with fresh parsley and Parmesan cheese, if using.
