Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture.
  • Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk.
  • Stir until just combined; do not overmix.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it 3-4 times.
  • Pat the dough to about 1-inch thick and cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter.
  • Place biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, close together.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
