Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 can diced tomatoes 14.5 oz
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Remove the core from the cabbage and carefully separate the leaves.
  • Boil the cabbage leaves in salted water for about 5 minutes until soft.
  • In a skillet, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  • Stir in the cooked rice, diced tomatoes, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • In a baking dish, layer the cooked cabbage leaves and meat mixture.
  • Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with cabbage on top.
  • If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese over the top layer.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden.
