Ingredients

  • 4 hot dogs
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix milk and egg until well combined.
  • Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
  • Insert skewers into each hot dog.
  • Dip hot dogs into batter, coating fully.
  • Carefully place the coated hot dogs into hot oil.
  • Fry for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot with your favorite condiments.
