Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup filling of choice e.g., apples, chicken, or cheese
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
  • Add diced butter and blend until crumbly.
  • Gradually add ice water until the dough forms.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface.
  • Cut circles using a large cookie cutter or glass.
  • Place filling in the center of each circle.
  • Fold the dough over and seal the edges with a fork.
