Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add salt and olive oil to the yeast mixture.
  • Gradually stir in the flour until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf.
  • Place the loaf in a greased bread pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Make several slashes on the top of the dough with a sharp knife.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
