Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup fruit filling apricot, cherry, or cream cheese
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Add melted butter and eggs to the dry ingredients.
  • Mix in the yeast mixture until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • Once doubled in size, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface.
  • Cut out circles using a cookie cutter or glass.
  • Place the circles on a baking sheet and add a spoonful of filling in the center.
  • Fold the edges over the filling and pinch to seal. Brush with egg wash.
  • Allow to rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20 minutes until golden.
