Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 package Oreo cookies
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients; mix until well combined.
  • Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  • For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
  • Incorporate the vanilla extract and milk to achieve a desired consistency.
  • Crush some Oreo cookies and fold them into the frosting for added flavor.
  • Once the cakes are cool, frost the top of one layer, add crushed Oreos, then place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake.
