Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 150 g sugar
  • 200 ml warm milk
  • 100 g unsalted butter softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 15 g active dry yeast
  • 100 g candied orange peel
  • 100 g raisins
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter to the flour mixture.
  • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
  • Incorporate candied fruits and raisins into the dough.
  • Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
  • Once doubled in size, punch down the dough and shape it into a ball again.
  • Place the dough in a panettone mold and let it rise again for about 1 hour.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 40-50 minutes until golden brown.
