Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Coarse sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar, then let it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add flour and mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, covered.
  • Divide the dough into small pieces (about 1 inch each).
  • In a large pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil.
  • Boil each piece of dough for 30 seconds, then remove and drain.
  • Place the boiled bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush each bite with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
