Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water 110°F
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp milk optional, for brushing

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine warm water and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top and let it froth for 5-10 minutes.
  • Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
  • Punch down the dough to release air and shape it into a loaf.
  • Place the shaped dough in a greased loaf pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Optionally, brush the top with milk for a golden crust, then bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool before slicing.
