Gather all ingredients: bread, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and mayonnaise.
Wash the lettuce and slice the tomato.
Take two slices of bread and lay them on a clean surface.
Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice.
Layer lettuce on one slice of bread.
Add slices of tomato over the lettuce.
Place cheese on top of the tomato.
Top with the second slice of bread, mayonnaise side down.
Press gently to compress the sandwich.
Cut the sandwich in half diagonally for easy eating.
