Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  • If using, stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
  • Roll it out to about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
