Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar for rolling
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon for rolling

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 ½ cups sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until well combined.
  • In a small bowl, mix 3 tablespoons sugar with 3 teaspoons cinnamon.
  • Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Place the coated dough balls on ungreased baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
