Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices.
  • In another bowl, beat the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and oil until smooth.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, frost with cream cheese frosting or serve plain.
