In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the flour to the melted butter, whisking constantly for about 2 minutes.
Gradually stir in the turkey drippings.
Slowly add the broth, whisking to combine and prevent lumps.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
If desired, stir in fresh herbs.
Simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
Serve hot over turkey or mashed potatoes.
